What your patient might ask you…

Do my bad teeth have anything to do with my glaucoma?

Maybe.
study published in the Journal of Glaucoma analyzed the bacteria in the mouths of 119 patients with POAG vs 78 non-glaucomatous patients.  The results showed streptococci bacteria was more commonly found in the mouths of glaucoma patients than in people with healthy eyes.  Also, there was a correlation between an increase in dental work and POAG.  Interesting results but researchers suggest further investigation is needed.
