What your patient might ask you…

Is there something besides Visine I can use to get the red out?

Ask me again in 7 months.
B&L filed a new drug application for their OTC topical vasoconstrictor, Luminesse.
If approved, this will be the first OTC product developed with brimonidine tartrate for the treatment of ocular redness. In the six clinical studies, the drug was found to be highly efficacious and safe with low risk of tachyphylaxis (tolerance or loss of effectiveness) and rebound congestion, which are both common to currently available OTC redness reliever eye drops.
The FDA will announce if they approve/deny Luminesse in December.
