study published last week showed that a new hydrogel sealant can help soldiers with traumatic eye injuries in the field.
The sealant is a “temperature-responsive synthetic hydrogel” which means that it goes from a fluid to a very strong semi-solid when it’s applied to the eye. It’s portable and applied using a syringe. Once the injured soldier gets to a medical facility, cold water will dissolve the hydrogel allowing for easy removal.
