Press Release: CooperVision Specialty EyeCare Upgrades and Expands Manufacturing Facilities

CooperVision Specialty EyeCare Upgrades and Expands Manufacturing Facilities

SAN RAMON, Calif., January 19, 2021—In response to the growing adoption of its specialty contact lenses by eye care professionals, CooperVision Specialty EyeCare today announced investments in its Gilbert, Ariz., and Sherbrooke, Quebec manufacturing facilities.

The Gilbert site—in suburban Phoenix—currently produces Paragon CRT® contact lenses and materials. The group’s ambitious expansion plans will grow the facility to more than 45,000 square feet by 2025, with a refurbished shipping and warehouse center, and a substantially larger specialty lens manufacturing floor.

The Sherbrooke facility—located southeast of Montreal—mainly produces Blanchard Onefit and Onefit MED scleral contact lenses. Accommodating increased volume demands from the Americas and other global markets, the site will benefit from several upgrades such as expanded advanced lathing technologies and renovated laboratory space.

Additionally, the group is undertaking a refurbishment and production expansion of its Netherlands facility to meet growing demand in Europe and China for its range of lenses.

“Extending our partnerships with the eye care community also insists that we regularly invest in our infrastructure, especially given upward demand,” said Juan Carlos Aragón, President, Specialty Eye Care, CooperVision. “We look forward to providing our employees and customers with the many benefits afforded by these improvements.”

CooperVision Specialty EyeCare develops, manufacturers, and provides access to a portfolio of industry leading soft custom and rigid gas permeable lens designs, including orthokeratology and scleral lenses to address segments such as myopia management, irregular cornea management and presbyopia management. Its steady voice, ongoing research and innovative products and services play a leading role in expanding care worldwide. The group’s brands include Blanchard, GP Specialists, Paragon, Procornea and Soflex.
